Which finish should I choose?

Sanded & Dyed (stained) £36 per metre

We offer a range of colours with Littlefair’s wood stain. The dye enhances the darker details penetrating the wood and leaves timber with a matt appearance

Sanded & Dyed (stained) & clear waxed £52 per metre

Adding wax to the dyed wood brightens the timber from a matt appearance to a beautiful deep shine when finished with Littlefair’s clear wax

Sanded & Dyed (Stained) & Oiled £49 per metre

Adding Danish oil to the dyed wood will provide greater protection with a tough waterproof finish creating a durable yet softer, silky feel.

Sand and clear or antique wax £39 per metre

Littlefair’s Wax Polish is highly water repellent, but not completely waterproof, it creates a beautiful deep shine.

Sand and oil £36 per metre

Littlefair’s Danish Oil offers a highly durable, natural looking, waterproof finish.

Sand, oil and clear wax £49 per metre

A combination of Little fair’s danish oil with a finishing coat of clear wax creates a fantastic deep richness from the oil, alongside a smooth luster and shine from the wax. The oils will be more suitable in damp conditions

Frequently asked questions

  • What if I want a shelf treated with a finish or stain, but I don’t want it sanded?

Wood finishes such as stain, oil and wax finishes do not take well to rough boards, sanding is an essential part of the process to upcycle the board to look its best. For this reason we do not want to disappoint our customers. We have a constant stock of scaffold boards at the Leeds Wood Recycling shop and are open to the public 10 - 4pm Monday to Saturday and can cut raw unprocessed boards for you when you come in store.
  • What finish will the sanding on the shelves be?

We sand to a smooth to touch (120 Grit) finish, this is both sides and on the edges of the board.
  • What does reclaimed timber scaffolding look like?

The boards have all been used, so will have some rustic wear which may include nail holes, chips, wood splits and saw marks. Our team select boards which have rustic character. The boards will be cut at each end to give a fresh edge, but may still have nail or banding holes as a remnant of its previous life on a building site. We remove all metal banding as standard. While every effort is made to select flat non warped boards, there may be some minor twists or cupping as the wood is reclaimed.
  • What are the scaffold boards made from?

    Pine or European whitewood
  • What are the dimensions of the scaffold board?

Exact dimensions may vary, but the board's dimensions are approximately : 225mm wide, 38mm thick, with the length custom to your order. Please note we make every effort to be as accurate as we can with your cuts, but please allow a few millimetres tolerance.
  • How long will it take for my order to be ready?

We aim to have your order ready within 1- 2 weeks of confirmation of your order. (We will contact you as soon as it is ready) You can collect it from our warehouse at Unit 6, 24 Croydon Street, Leeds, LS11 9RT.  Shop open 10-4pm Monday - Saturday.
